Elementa shortlisted for two accolades at the CIBSE Young Engineer Awards

Elementa has been shortlisted for two prestigious accolades at this year’s CIBSE Young Engineer Awards. The awards recognise graduate engineers who are pioneering within the industry and additionally reward employers who are driven to encourage and support young talent.

Kai Devani, Building Services Engineering Design Apprentice, has been shortlisted for CIBSE Apprentice of the Year Award, which recognises the valuable skills gained from apprenticeships from both practical and relevant work experience. Kai joined Elementa in September 2021 and has integrated into various team disciplines including mechanical, electrical, public health and sustainability. Recently Kai has worked closely alongside the BIM team learning the different software programmes involved including Revit, DIALux, Amtech and AutoCAD helping to realise calculations in reality. Kai is passionate about understanding smart-building technologies and wants to focus on how to incorporate these features into all buildings, ultimately decreasing carbon emissions and intelligently enhancing how a building is utilised.

Speaking on the shortlisting, Kai stated “I am grateful to be shortlisted for this award, as it highlights the importance of apprenticeships within the building services sector. Gaining practical experience in the workplace and learning from experts in the industry I believe is invaluable and something that cannot be replicated through university alone. I am looking forward to continuing my journey. aiming to become a chartered engineer.”

Elementa has also been nominated for the CIBSE Employer of the Year award, recognising organisations that pro-actively champion young people in the building services sector, through commitment to young people in the workplace or by supporting those employees through education. Our core values – Trust, Nurture, Inspire – serve as an operational mantra that guides Elementa’s responsibility to its employees and clients. With our engineers and consultants continuing to lead innovation, their ability to share knowledge and mentor the next generation is critical both to our company and our industry at-large.

Brian Goldsmith, Regional Director UK and Europe commented  “To be nominated for this award recognises the importance our business puts towards the next generation of talent. In conjunction with our structured CIBSE Accredited Training Scheme, we work hard to prioritise our employees, ensuring that they are nurtured from the moment they join us and truly believe innovation is created by empowering our next generation.“

The award winners will be announced on 11th October at RIBA, London – good luck to all nominees.
