Westmont Science Education Facility

The Westmont New Science Education Facility represents a positive and intensive approach to Educational Facility Design in which a wide range of disciplines are closely interwoven in order to explore truly sustainable design. The entire team was able to focus not only on building construction, but also on building purpose. The concept for the building included the development of a series of “teachable moments,” instances in which a student may discover some aspect of the building revealed by our choices that may stimulate a question.

Integral Group delivered an innovative system that uses significantly less energy than standard systems. The HVAC design strived to maximize performance, energy efficiency and indoor air quality while keeping the construction costs comparable to traditional designs. The efficient design of the HVAC system played a major part in the success of this facility. Based on average costs of other typical standard buildings, this installation operates at a significantly lower cost.
