Middle East Centre St. Antony’s College

This project consisted of the creation of the iconic ‘Investcorp Building’ for The Middle East Centre designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, which has been named ‘the world best higher education and research building’ at the 2016 World Architecture Festival in Berlin

This facility provides the college with 1,127 square meters of floor space, and incorporates basement photo, paper and new accessions archive and storage facilities incorporating close environmental control systems, basement 117-seat lecture theatre, , gallery space, library rolling stack facilities, library reading room, archive reading room, office accommodation and ablutions.

Working on behalf of the College, we undertook specialist Clerk of Works services on this design and build project to ensure that the MEP services installation was strictly in accordance with the agreed Employers Requirements, and in line with industry best practice.

In addition, we carried out a number of retained services duties including reviewing the MEP services design proposals against the Employer Requirements, review of the Contractor’s construction issue documentation, commissioning witnessing activities, defect and omissions inspections, end of defects period inspection, application for payment appraisals and extension of time reviews.

Our expertise and knowledge of innovative services design coupled with practical buildability experience allowed us to fulfil this pivotal role on what was a very demanding and a high profile commission. Our experts are custodians of the architect’s vision whilst ensuring the college’s intent is authentically brought to life.
