St. Mary’s and St. Peter’s School

As the fourth incarnation of the school in its 176 years of service to the Teddington community, our work at St. Mary’s and St. Peter’s increased the school size from 2 form entry to 3 form entry. Despite this increase in size, the aim was to increase levels of personalisation in the learning experiences of its students, through the development of both individual and group workspaces and the remodelling of existing classrooms. The design also maximises the use of information technology at the school through enhanced IT infrastructure.

At St Marys and St Peters, Elementa delivered all mechanical, electrical and public health design, as well as full BREEAM Education assessment and Dynamic Thermal Modelling.

Our design took a largely natural, passive approach to the building services,  targeting BREEAM Excellent. Monodraft passive ventilation systems were installed in order to satisfy ventilation requirements within the school buildings.

The design utilises Air Source Heat Pumps and High Efficient Gas Condensing Boilers. The existing radiators have been reutilised in order to minimise costs, with the current underfloor heating being served as well as new underfloor heating within the school extension by a new Energy Centre. This is located away from the school building and houses all plant supplying the school.
