King’s College London Weston Education Centre Library

The Weston Education Centre (WEC) consisted of full refurbishment and re-ordering of the existing library facility with refurbishment of 2 Lecture Theatres, 9 Classrooms and Boardroom.

The existing library required refurbishing and reorganisation of space within the area to create a memorable environment and a more flexible, circulating library and student space.

The project involved the creation of:

  • New main entrance to library facility with associated new enquiries desk and seating/ study spaces for 250 students.
  • New Library Service/ Enquiries Desk
  • Open Study Areas
  • Dedicated Meeting “Pods”
  • Re-configured existing Stacks for 1,000 linear metres of book storage.
  • Open Study Areas, Computer Rooms, 24/7 Study Area, Graduate Study Room, Training Room

As part of the refurbishment works we addressed the inherent overheating and acoustic issues experienced by staff and occupants within the library and associated areas.
