Chisholm Road Rehabilitation Center

Chisholm Road

The State of Victoria has commenced construction of a new 1,248 bed rehabilitation facility as part of its community safety response. The facility has implemented non-institutional elements in its design, based on creating internal communities’ which participants are spread amongst, fostering ownership of their local space and sense of place. The local aboriginal community (the Wadawurrung people) has been engaged to ensure the local cultural values are understood and to protect any particular features of the site.

The site provides amenities to all participants in line with the UN ‘Principles for the Treatment of Prisoners’, including paid employment, health facilities, gym and recreational spaces. As well as cultural activities and education.

Incorporating ecologically sustainable design features is a primary focus for the facility. It has achieved an ISCA Silver rating for sustainability, has an onsite 500V solar farm and recycled and environmentally sound building are being used in the construction.

Integral Group has been appointed as the engineering service designers, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire protection, security, technology, fire engineering, and sustainability services.
