ASHRAE Headquarters

ASHRAE is renovating a building in Peachtree Corners, GA to serve as the future global headquarters of the organization. The renovated facility will provide an outstanding working environment for approximately 145 ASHRAE employees and provide extensive training and meeting space for ASHRAE members and volunteers. The project is intended to demonstrate an economical renovation of an existing structure into a Zero Net Energy building.

The existing 65,000 square-foot building was built in 1978 and faces a number of challenges in Georgia’s hot and humid climate. To reach the thermal comfort goals, the building’s design employs ample exterior insulation, radiant cooling & heating, and ceiling fans to improve air flow. A dedicated outdoor air system will be utilized to manage the dehumidification of the interior. The project is targeting Zero Net Energy Certification with a total renovation budget of $10 million without including photovoltaic arrays.
