VanDusen Visitor Centre and CANMET chosen for the 2014 Canadian Green Building Awards

The eight projects selected in the 2014 Canadian Green Building Awards are among the most exemplary sustainably-designed buildings in Canada. Integral Group was proud to see VanDusen Botanical Garden Visitor Centre and CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory selected as two of these winning projects.

JURY COMMENT | VanDusen Botanical Garden Visitor Centre

A beautiful building with an interesting variety of spaces and an innovative palette of materials and assemblies. The very impressive performance metrics are a testimony to an integrated and in-depth approach to mechanical and other building systems. The combination of architectural excellence and high technical performance is compelling.

Targeting the Living Building Challenge, Integral Group provided mechanical, electrical, and energy modelling consulting services to achieve a ‘living building’ with net-zero energy that ensures a harmonious balance between the built and natural environment.

JURY COMMENT | CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory

An exceptional project that combines high performance and rigorous planning with interesting, well lit and beautifully detailed interior spaces. These types of buildings generally have high energy intensity, which makes the achievements of this project even harder to ignore.

Integral Group provided mechanical, electrical, sustainable design, energy modelling and LEED Consulting services for this 155,000 sq. ft. research facility. This facility includes a geo-exchange energy plant, natural lighting, radiant heating and cooling and green roofs, and we’re completing on-going performance engineering services.
