Integral Group Celebrates International Women's Day 2020

The heart of Integral Group’s impact and excellence is tied to the diversity of our staff.  Fostering inclusion echoes to our commitment to our staff to be a safe workplace where they can show up as their authentic selves and thrive.  We continue to attract and retain the best, brightest, and most passionate people motivated by a mutual sense of purpose, and we believe that a wide array of perspectives is a fundamental condition of innovation and resiliency in our firm.

Integral Group remains dedicated to promoting greater diversity and inclusion internally and throughout the AEC industry, with emphasis on those who are traditionally underrepresented. We recognize our industry has been behind the curve when it comes to the equitable representation of women.  We see this challenge as a growth opportunity, and each year we have made strides towards greater gender parity.

By celebrating International Women’s Day, we take time to proudly acknowledge the progress we have made and humbly take stock in the gaps we have yet to fill.  A key focus area to continues to be improvement in female leadership. We have increased our number of female associates and associate principals from nine in 2016 to twenty-three in 2018 but our proportion of females in principal and managing principal roles remains low. This points to the need to focus on not just attracting female talent, but retaining and supporting the growth and development throughout their careers.

Integral Group continues to push for fair and inclusive representation at all employee levels and categories throughout our organization.  Our overall proportion of female staff has decreased slightly since 2018 (from 33% to 32%) due to the addition of several new offices which included hundreds of new employees. Our ongoing work is now focused on building representation in new offices and ensuring that we reach our target of 40% female staff in 2020.

We are proud of the wealth of female talent we have attracted and continue to nurture. Women of Integral Group continue to represent our firm as community leaders, shape our  most important policies, and accelerate the deep green work we are doing across the globe.

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women – while also marking a call to action for accelerating gender equality. The first International Women’s Day occurred in 1911, supported by over one million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific. The 2020 theme for International Women’s Day is #EqualForEach.

An equal world is an enabled world. We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate women’s achievements. Equality is not a women’s issue, it’s a business issue. Gender equality is essential for economies and communities to thrive.  A gender equal world can be healthier, wealthier and more harmonious.
