Integral Group Win CanBIM Design + Engineering Award

CanBIM have announced Integral Group as winners of the Design & Engineering Category at the Innovation and Spotlight Awards for their work in Embodied Carbon in MEP Design. Integral’s submission demonstrates how using BIM models in life cycle assessment can help mitigate the embodied carbon of MEP designs, creating an accurate MEP bill of quantities and eventually robust automated workflows.

The Design and Engineering Award is presented to the company that demonstrates leadership and innovation through working or implementing digital processes and methodologies that improve productivity.

Integral Group’s submission highlights that engineers need to understand embodied carbon emissions at the early design stage so that informed choices can be made using whole life carbon thinking. In the case of MEP design, this is challenging because designs are complex. Integral Group has established a method to extract data from BIM models that link to an embodied carbon database. Design professionals can now study, in detail, the embodied carbon of MEP designs to make better-informed decisions to meet climate targets.

The Innovation Spotlight Awards annually recognises the most innovative companies and professionals in the industry. The awards help benchmark trends and the technological evolution of CanBIM’s top firms.
