ETFO Project Wins Award of Excellence

The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) Headquarters project received an Award of Excellence at the 2014 Ontario Consulting Engineering Awards on April 12, 2014. This innovative new building effectively demonstrates how sustainable design can be successfully integrated into an urban neighbourhood in transition.

“One of the most fascinating things I found about the project is the actual location,” says Integral Group Principal Chris Piche. “This is not a building that’s out in the middle of the suburb where you’ve got ample space and you can play around with it. There’s a fixed area you have to work with… One of the biggest successes of the project is the ability to have incorporated the opportunity for daylight, opportunities for energy performance, opportunities of aesthetics within the existing neighbourhood and the urban context.”

Integral Group provided mechanical consulting engineering services as part of an integrated design team led by KPMB Architects. The diligent collaboration amongst team members turned ETFO’s vision for sustainability into reality.
