The launch of Elementa’s COP21 Insights Paper took place at our 4th Annual Ecobuild Lunch and is now available to download.
Through this paper we are seeking to increase engagement and encourage action to reverse climate change. The window of time to mitigate and halt irreversible climate change is rapidly closing. It is our belief that all businesses in industrialized and fully developed economies must take decisive action now. We must collectively transition to a 100% renewable energy economy as soon as possible.
It is our aim to distil key themes from COP21 into actionable ideas for business owners and decision makers with whom we frequently collaborate in the building industry. It fully explores how the far-reaching commitments made at COP21 will impact the business and policy landscape in the near, medium and long term, with a particular focus on cities and urbanization.
The Paris conference included the first ever dedicated “Buildings Day” held at COP. Benjamin J. Galuza, Principal of Elementa Consulting, and author of the paper, attended COP21 in the lead up to the final week of negotiations. In workshops and roundtables that focused on cities and the built environment, he gained access to world-leading strategists and doers, and gathered their insights on how to tackle the challenge of our generation.
We believe that the agreement reached at COP21 marks a significant watershed – but to realise its potential needs action from across all sectors of business and society. Buildings must play their full part to help us all realise a healthy, prosperous and zero carbon future.
