Stuart Hood to Present Passive Aggressive: Façade System Performance at Façade Tectonics

Façade Tectonics Forum Vancouver is a regional conference hosted by Façade Tectonics offers a diverse program of industry leaders sharing innovations in advanced building facades, and emergent drivers that are changing the performance demands on buildings. This Forum’s theme is THE GOOD AND THE BAD: Evolving Considerations and Practices of Building Facade Glazing.

Integral Group is proud to be represented by Stuart Hood, Managing Principal – Vancouver, in the panel discussion:

PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE: Pushing Facade System Performance with Passive House

Monday, July 30, 2018 | 2:45pm – 4:00pm PT

Interest and engagement of passive building as represented by the International Passive House Association standards continues to grow among practitioners, policymakers and code agencies. The passive building strategy balances multiple factors—super-insulation, air tightness, high-performance components, energy-recovery ventilation, minimal space conditioning, and managed solar gain—in pursuit of quantifiable energy efficiency and comfort level. Passive building optimizes efficiency by putting conservation measures first and valuing simplicity over complexity, providing inherently low-tech, affordable building solutions. In addition to energy efficiency, Passive House claims substantial long-term benefits in comfort, air quality, resilience, and an optimal pathway to net-zero or net-positive building energy performance. Passive building principles are independent of building typology and can be effectively applied from residential to tall buildings.
