Please join Integral Group Sustainability Advisor, Aaron Wouters, at the 2018 New York State Green Building Conference in his session:

Driving Occupant Health and Wellness in the Built Environment | April 6, 2018 – 3:40pm

Fitwel is a cost-effective, high impact building certification system and has a vision for a healthier future where every building is enhanced to support the wellbeing of its occupants and surrounding communities. Fitwel’s development was led by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the General Services Administration. The Center for Active Design is the operator of Fitwel, leading its widespread adoption and future development.

About Aaron

Aaron is a graduate of the Sustainable Energy & Building Technology Engineering Technical program at Humber College. He is also a certified Fitwel Ambassador, WELL Accredited Professional and LEED Accredited Professional.

Fitwel is a third-party certification system designed to help organizations enhance health, wellbeing and productivity in the workplace. Aaron Wouters is the first Fitwel Ambassador from Canada, and was intrigued with how Fitwel highlights key features and attributes of buildings to enhance human health and ensure chronic disease prevention. Thanks to the knowledge he has gained as a Fitwel Ambassador, Aaron now finds that he has a heightened awareness of how different building attributes can affect the health of its occupants.

Aaron also enjoys the benefits of Fitwel every day as his own office recently earned a 2-star Fitwel rating in June to become the first Fitwel-certified building in Canada. With more natural light, adjustable work spaces, greater social spaces to stimulate interaction, and enhanced air quality within the office, he is witnessing the advantages of a Fitwel-certified building firsthand.

Aaron was a panelist at the Transforming Buildings in Canada in a presentation speaking as a Fitwel Champion and Ambassador for using in Canada to promote occupant health for employees and clients. Aaron has also presented Fitwel during USGBC’s GreenBuild 2017 in Boston at a private, invite-only event.  He most recently he presented an introduction of Fitwel and WELL to Diamond Schmitt Architects .
