This project comprised of the development of an exemplary low-energy retail unit within a 21,000 sq ft retail park on the outskirts of Bristol.
Elementa provided all mechanical, electrical and public health design work for this scheme, which aimed to be highly sustainable when compared against standard retail units of this type. Key to our work was the development of detailed energy strategies and options appraisals for a range of low-energy technologies. These appraisals resulted in the eventual deployment of a wind turbine and an air source heat pump. These measures combined with a range of passive carbon management measures ensured that the building achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating. It is hoped that the building will provide a template for larger sustainable schemes in the future.
