This project involved the creation of a new three level facility dedicated to critical care and rehabilitation incorporating isolation units. Integral blinds in glass walls and windows provide maximum infection control, while maintaining balance between patient privacy and effective clinical monitoring. Windows were designed to give natural ventilation. Computer modelling to define maximum summer temperatures meant the Trust can stay within NHS energy targets. Our work on this project included provision of all mechanical, electrical, public health and energy engineering services ensuring that all HTM’s and HBN’s were adhered to including a range of low energy strategies to ensure compliance with NHS carbon guidelines.
